Beginners are welcome at any time to the Wych Elm Archery Club although we do recommend that you get in touch to ensure that we have enough space and equipment for you.

Beginners sessions are run on Fridays evenings and Sunday afternoons.
All equipment is provided.
Sessions are £5 each.

Please come and try one beginners session without commitment. If you enjoy yourself (most people do) we then ask that you sign up for a block of 4-8 lessons during which you will be taught how to shoot safely and consistently as well as being given as much background in the sport as possible.

Once your lessons are complete you are able to then join the Wych Elm Archery Club and start looking at purchasing your own equipment. Please check the links page for details of local and national suppliers.

Useful Tips:

  • Wear close fitting clothing that won't get caught on fast moving bowstrings.
  • Ensure that long hair is tied back.
  • Wear practical outdoor footwear.
  • Lots of thin layers are better than one thick layer of clothes.
  • Make sure you have sunscreen in hot weather.
  • Always ensure you have refreshments. Cold/hot drinks. (Food and drink is available from the Centre Cafe).
  • Don't rush out and buy equipment, archery equipment needs to be fitted to the archer to suit your size and strength.
